My work is based upon acts of intervention. I use elements of traditional repair techniques to create traces highlighting the use of objects and the paths of people. Often this leads me to create the tools to allow these specific actions to take place, or a new object, created as a response to the collective visual language. Work is made by project with a site-specific impetus, both the public and domestic space is anticipated as locations for the realised pieces.
My feeling is that using the language of repair techniques to perform interventions, speaks of movement of people and the need to establish a sense of location or home. This subversion of traditional craft techniques into a sometimes parasitic take-over of space, deals with both the familiar language of hand skills, slow making and the trace of the hand whilst the unfamiliar or unexpected location or focus seeks to raise questions of re-use, the migration of craft practices and time.
